Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn will join us for our 4th quarter “Focused on Issues” program. 

Chief Flynn will deliver a keynote address on the regional collaboration within law enforcement around the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI).  Find out about the important work happening in Waukesha County around UASI. More details to come very soon.

RECENT MEETINGS AND PRESENTATIONS
On May 21 WCAN hosted, in collaboration with the Public Policy Forum, its second quarter Focused on Issues events – “The Politics of Water.”  Board member Bill Mielke delivered an informative background presentation on the facts outlined in SEWRPC’s Regional Water Study followed by lively panel discussion around what is at the core of our region’s water supply issue – the politics.  Panelists included:  Milwaukee Alderman Michael Murphy, City of Waukesha Mayor Larry Nelson, former Metropolitan Builder’s Association Executive Director Matt Moroney, and environmental attorney Jodi Habush-Sinykin.

The first quarter WCAN Connects event was held on Feb. 24 at Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren, s.c.  Check out the PowerPoint slides used by Tom Hefty during his presentation on economic trends impacting Waukesha County and the state.

Dr. Willard Daggett delivered an eye-opening presentation to Waukesha County superintendents, administrators, and school board members on March 5.  WCAN proudly sponsored the event along with the School to Work Consortium.  Check out what he had to say about “Balancing Declining Resources With the Need to Improve Student Performance.”
